So slowly, Come out from under the covers, Put one foot in front of the other, And step outside, Step outside, Step outside. If you’re lonely, Reach out to your sisters and brothers, We’ve got to look out for each other And be more kind, Be more kind, Be more kind. Move more slowly, You’ve always been too fast. Move more slowly, And try to make each precious moment last. You can never have enough, Of what you do not need And I don’t need much. Just a gentle touch. If you’re broken, And you cannot put yourself back together, Flock with birds of a feather, You will find, You just need time, You just need time. If you ask me, How I see myself in the future? Will I live in winter or summer? I don’t mind, I don’t mind, I don’t mind. Move more slowly, You’ve always been too fast. Move more slowly, And try to make each precious moment last. You can never have enough, Of what you do not need And I don’t need much. Just a gentle touch. How you going to go? One step at a time. How you going to be? I’ll try to be more kind.

Catch me if you can, I just keep going faster. I don’t know god’s plan, But I’m on the rollercoaster. Hold on tight, Your knuckles getting whiter. When you’ve got the speed, The future’s brighter. When you’ve got the speed, The future’s brighter. Don’t ask me to slow down. I know I shall not sleep until Tomorrow rolls around. I am like lightning So catch me if you can. Catch me if you can, On my motorcycle. Riding with the moon, The Devil’s own disciple. Don’t ask me to slow down. I know I shall not sleep until Tomorrow rolls around. I am like lightning So catch me if you can.

Oh My My 05:47
Oh my, my! Where had you been? I was such a bashful boy till you came on the scene. Oh my, my! How you made me feel. I can’t get enough of you beg borrow or steal. Oh my, my! What do you see? I love the long cool way you look at me. Oh my, my! Such a gentle touch. I’ve never valued simple things so much. If I could pause for just one minute, I would breathe the deepest sigh. Sometimes I think that I have surely reached my limit, But it’s much too soon for me to say goodbye. Oh my, my! All you kings and queens, Justified by birth, Your gold and diamonds cannot buy what we are worth. Don’t get me wrong, I do not resent, But they say the riches of the heart are heaven sent. All these years I have been lonely, Walking slowly with the stony ground below me, And heavy heart. All these years I have been lonely, Walking slowly with the stony ground below me, Back to the start. Oh my, my! Where did you go? I followed your fading footsteps frozen in the snow. Oh my, my! What can I say? I’ll never regret the day you came my way. If I could pause for just one minute, I would breathe the deepest sigh. Sometimes I think that I have surely reached my limit, But it’s much too soon for me to say goodbye. Oh my, my!

Pick up the pace, Put your best foot forward, Your saving grace, Is common currency. No give or take, Negotiation. Sit on down, And turn your face to me Speak your truth, Speak your truth. Open up and tell your story, Move your lips and hold me spellbound. Don’t you know I’m black and blue, Not sorry. In truth you will release the words, And knowledge. Fire burns and cleans the wounds. Fire burns and cleans. Breathe out slowly, Your smoke surrounds you. Your isolation, Is coming to an end. Feel the strength, Of this connection, Come in from the, Cold my friend. Black and blue, Black and blue. All my bones are bruised and broken, All my thoughts are trapped in silence. Don’t you know I’m black and blue, Not sorry. In truth you will release the words, And knowledge. Fire burns and cleans the wounds. Fire burns and cleans. I guess that I’m just one more case of Nothing left to loose. The tears drying on my face are Not what I would choose. I grow weary of the battle that’s inside me, I don’t want to be afraid of who I am or might be. Let it go…

Wild Swan 02:36
Wild swan, So weary from your flight, Before the moon you sleep up on the wing. Wild swan, So weary from your flight, You go away to come back in the spring. Fly bird fly, Fly bird fly. Will you release me from the crowd? I spread my wings and fly away. Wise owl, You pierce me with your eyes, In the darkest hour you are found. Wise owl, You pierce me with your eyes, Before the dawn you’re gone without a sound. Fly bird fly, Fly bird fly. Will you release me from the crowd? I spread my wings and fly away.

Lilac Tree 05:22
The wind is blowing through the Lilac tree, I hear you breathing lying next to me. My head is spinning like the ceiling fan, My heart is weightless so I hold your hand. I hold your hand, I hold your hand. The rain is falling on the roof outside, A lazy rhythm like a lullaby. The water’s rising by the river bank, I think I’m drowning so I hold your hand. I hold your hand, I hold your hand. Just to know you’re with me, The touch of your fingertips. I hear you answer my refrain, The low breath on your lips. The snow is drifting in a desert storm, My body’s frozen when I should be warm. Ice sheets forming on the solid ground, My feet are sliding so I hold your hand. I hold your hand, I hold your hand. The sun is setting over open seas, The leaves are dancing in the Lilac Tree. The night is falling on the drifting sands, Soon we’ll be parting so I hold your hand I hold your hand, I hold your hand. Just to know you’re with me, The touch of your fingertips. I hear you answer my refrain, The low breath on your lips. The moon is rising on a sunless sea, The stars describe a haunting melody. One day soon you will be back with me, And I will hold your hand. I hold your hand, I hold your hand.

Naked Flame 04:54
Do you think twice when you burn your fingers? I guess I’m slow to learn from pain. When I hurt the memory lingers, But I make the same mistakes again. You were a beacon in my darkness, Drawn like a moth to neon light. I moved too fast without direction, Deep into the everlasting night. Put the candle out my darling. Must we do this dance again? Have I been burnt now once too often? Were you just another naked flame? Were you just another naked flame? When I sit still and I am peaceful. I clear the thoughts out of my mind. I begin to see my time as something useful. If I read between the lines I learn to see where I was blind. If I read between the lines I learn to see where I was blind. I don’t seem to learn the lesson. I went to school with nothing gained. Can I be free of my obsession? Quench this burning fire in the rain. I was guided by a lighthouse; Looking for a port in heavy seas. Swept along that rocky shoreline, This siren call has brought me to my knees. Put the candle out my darling. Must we do this dance again? Have I been burnt now once too often? Were you just another naked flame? Were you just another naked flame?

Summer Rain 03:01
The summer sun, Is in your eyes, And night is falling, From summer skies. I hear you calling out my name, The words are falling, Just like summer rain. Summer rain, Summer rain, Pouring water on the flames. I open up my window, To the summer rain. Only summer rain can wash away the chatter in my brain. It won’t be long now, Before it comes again. It won’t be long now, Before it comes again. Thunder heads, Are crowding in the sky, The storm is close now, I don’t know why, I’ve never felt this sane. The world is clear now, Through the summer rain. Summer rain, Summer rain, Pouring water on the flames. I open up my window, To the summer rain. Only summer rain can wash away the chatter in my brain. It won’t be long now, Before it comes again. It won’t be long now, Before it comes again. It won’t be long now, Before it comes again.

Everything we are given, Every face I’ve ever loved or known. Stranded on a spinning stone I could be forgiven, For dreaming life in Kodachrome. Comfortable in Goldilocks’ Zone Are we all alone? We’re the Pan-Galactic Fire Station, Hold the line, Oh please be patient. We know you’re in the queue, Maybe there’s something we can do. Before the answer, We must get the question right. Blinded by the speed of light. You told me of Fermi, I couldn’t sleep a wink that night. I lie here waiting for the fight. Is there anyone in sight? We’re the Pan-Galactic Fire Station, Hold the line, Oh please be patient. We know you’re in the queue, Maybe there’s something we can do. Beyond one million light-years, Deep in outer-space. We know that we are not alone. We’ll come to save your planet, If we’re not too late. Until then you’re on your own. But you’ve always got the phone… We’re the Pan-Galactic Fire Station, Hold the line, Oh please be patient. We know you’re in the queue, Maybe there’s something we can do.

about

Born into the nuclear hinterland and glorious isolation of the bucolic Cumbrian valleys in the mid 1970s, Emil’s passion for music and his connection to nature, and the cosmos beyond, took root early in his life.

As a young adult, Emil became interested in the mechanics of classical engineering, and where better to soak up the secrets of the Industrial Revolution than Manchester, England. Here, under the influence of the vehemently vibrant 1990s Manchester ‘Madchester’ music scene, Emil’s influences broadened further with direct lines to the Cosmos enabled on occasions. Life got fast, perhaps too fast. Speed kills, but somehow, for a while, Emil was held together in crazy motion.

Life-threatening illness, isolation, depression and addiction enveloped Emil for far longer than anyone should have to experience, but the real fight was now on.

The realisation that a return to nature and simplifying existence away from the material bombast and money chasing city life caused Emil to eschew nearly all of his material possessions (a lesson needed now more than ever), apart from a single acoustic guitar purchased for £50 from a scrap dealer in Hong Kong. And here is when Emil’s return from the brink begins.

One of the best human characteristics is the courage to be vulnerable, and over the next few years Emil painstakingly put together an ensemble of songs which are brutally - beautifully - honest, drawing on his darkest experiences but always showing tomorrow can bring light…

about

Emil Pye Manchester, UK

Shortly after crawling into recovery from alcoholism and selling all but one of my guitars, I discovered I could sing and started writing songs.
I wrote songs for 3 years before I began recording during the Covid lockdown.

Emil combines intricate finger-picked acoustic guitar with impressive string arrangements and the merest hint of psychedelia...
